The Gungahlin suburb of Ngunnawal is well-regarded with families as it enjoys access to great local amenities, schools and various green belts dotted through the suburb, encouraging an active lifestyle with countless parks, recreational areas, ovals and playgrounds in close vicinity. This established suburb enjoys the benefits of two main waterways nearby. The Yerrabi and Gungahlin Ponds offer residents the option to cycle, run or stroll around their shores or to simply enjoy their exquisite views. The suburb is named in tribute to the Ngunnawal people, the original inhabitants of the local district. Accordingly, many of the street names in Ngunnawal relate to Indigenous Australian culture, words and people.

Ngunnawal is serviced by two small shopping centres. The corner of Wanganeen Avenue and Jabanungga Avenue hosts the Ngunnawal Shopping Centre, providing access to a Spar supermarket, bakery, takeaway shop and gym. Other services include a pharmacy and medical clinic. In addition, the shops located at Mirrabei Drive include an IGA store, Ellena’s Takeaway & Pizza Bar and the popular Indian restaurant, Mirchi. Ngunnawal is also only a six-minute commute to Gungahlin Marketplace, showcasing a wider range of shops, eateries, and local facilities with the added benefit of the light rail as another public transport option. As a Ngunnawal resident and area specialist, I have lived here for many years and certainly don't have any plans to move because of Ngunnawal’s convenient proximity to so many places in Canberra.

Being in a great location with a range of properties available means Ngunnawal will always remain a popular suburb to buy into, especially with families. The suburb is bordered by Amaroo and Nicholls, with the developing suburb of Casey at its rear, it has a median house price of just $590,000 and a unit price at $455,000. The house median is $227,800 less than the ACT median house price of $817,800. Given its access to an active and child-friendly lifestyle coupled with a strong sense of community, Ngunnawal is the perfect suburb to enjoy the unspoiled beauty and lifestyle of the Canberra region.
